Curtis Ray is the Pastor of Children and Families at FBC. There are a lot of tidbits we could tell you about him, like;
- He is a native Oregonian who grew up on his family’s ranch in the “big” town of Elkton.
- He was working as a Children’s Pastor in Oklahoma for the past 6 years and joined our staff in December of 2006.
- His wife’s name is Linda and they have two boys; Darryl & Andrew.
- He is a graduate from Moody Bible College and received his Master’s of Divinity from Multnomah Bible College.
- He has been in the ministry for 16 years now.
But, we think the fun details are what most people might not know about this great guy! So, we asked him a few questions….

“What was your first job?” Opening gates for a log truck that was working on our ranch.

John Jaskilka recently joined our FBC Kids Staff in June 2007 after graduating from Corban College in May. He grew up in Eugene and has been a familiar face out at Camp Harlow for several summers. Like a true native of Eugene, he loves the Oregon Duck Athletics and enjoys being active and being outside! John’s responsiblities on staff are leading the 4th/5th grade Ministry and assisting in the Middle School Ministry here at FBC.

John is doing a fantastic job in our 4th & 5th grade ministry. If you haven’t gotten to know this guy…you’re missing out. He has a huge heart for the kids and incredible vision for the future.
CHRISTIE FISCHNALLER
Christie has been working for FBC for 4-5 years and shares the Nursery Coordinator position with Kari Hardre’. Christie’s responsiblities also entail staffing for all the classrooms for the Nursery through 3rd grade. She is also a tremendous help in our Children’s Ministries Office during the week. Christie is married to Eric Fischnaller and they have a son, Cameron who is 4.
Christie was born in Eugene and enjoys reading, knitting, shopping, rafting, hiking and time with her friends and family.
Now that you know some of the details about our fabulous staff member, here are some fun tidbits you may not have known!

Cats or dogs? Dogs, because they need you as much as you need them.
Favorite time of the day…morning or night? Night…because I am not a morning person and I get to have some time to myself!
Where is the furthest place you have traveled? Tennessee to see my sister or Hawaii.

Where she met her husband…here at FBC!
Her pet peeve…Being bothered when I am on the phone.
Sunshine or rain? Sunshine, because I like to be warm!
Christie is a joyful person and brings delight to those she works around. We love having her on staff!
KARI HARDRE’
Kari has been in ministry here at First B since September 2005. She has been a familiar face in our Nursery department and shares the Nursery Coordinator position with Christie. They work together as a fabulous team by the way! Kari also takes on the responsiblities of classroom preparation for our preschool through 3rd grades. She has done a fantastic job in providing and preparing for teachers, everything they need to make the lessons the best that they can be. Kari can be found in the Resource Room each week, stop by and say Hi!
Here are some fun FYI’s that you may not know about her!
Kari was adopted at age 3 1/2, she has two wonderful families and gets the joy of knowing and being a part of them both. She is #2 child in both families. Kari is married to Paul and she has a son, Alex who is in Middle School.
Kari enjoys reading, shopping, traveling, and baking. Kari loves soccer and the U of O Ducks!

Do you prefer veggies or fruit? Veggies to fruit, but I love them both.
Cat or dog? I have 2 cats and I love it that we can leave food out and be gone for a weekend and they are okay!
Favorite phrase… “I don’t think so….”!
Grocery bag: paper or plastic? Plastic, we reuse them to wrap the diapers in the nursery!
Favorite time of day, morning or night? I am a morning person. I like to get up and go, by night my get up and go has gone!
Furthest you have traveled? North - Canada, East - Austria, South - Costa Rica, West - Florence, Oregon
Superman or Batman? “Ooh, that one is tough. It depends on who the actor is! LOL! (Batman)
Kari does an incredible job keeping us organized. We love her cheerful spirit and we are grateful for her servant’s heart!
